Mission
AuSable Free Clinic, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides access to outpatient healthcare by professional and other volunteer staff to individuals who have no medical insurance and cannot afford private medical care.

After a year of planning the clinic opened in August 2005.

Mercy Hospital Grayling has donated over $100,000 worth of equipment, services, and other various supports.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan provided a $50,000 start up grant and continues to fund the clinic providing $25,000 for 2006 as well as $3,500 to fund a professional grant writer.

We have received funding from United Way as well as other organizations, businesses and individuals.

There are 75 active volunteers who are doctors, nurses, social workers and clerical staff who offer their services.

Since opening in August of 2005 the clinic has had over 600 patient visits.

Patients in need of medication are provided with meds from the clinic or are given a voucher to take to a pharmacy to get filled (with no cost to the patient).

We have had specialists offer their expertise such as surgeons, neurologist and dentist.
Three Main Criteria`s in order to be seen at the AuSable Free Clinic
Patient Must:
1. Be a resident of Crawford, Roscommon, Oscoda or Montmorency County.
2. Have no insurance or medical coverage of any kind.
3. Have an income of less than 150% of the poverty level for their household size.
